A tradition since 1967, the Mobile Area Council of Engineers (MACE) recognizes Engineers in the community for their achievements and leadership. As a 501c3, MACE hosts the annual awards as an opportunity to encourage excellence through the identification and promotion, both within the profession and the community at large, for the outstanding accomplishments in the advancement of the science and practice of engineering in the region. MACE not only supports the engineering community, but also STEM activities such as MATHCOUNTS, USA engineering scholarships and other projects.

Since 2002, The Mobile Area Council of Engineers has awarded scholarships to students enrolled in engineering at the University of South Alabama. On March 20, 2002, the Mobile Area Council of Engineers in conjunction with Dr. Wilford D. Raburn (Associate Dean of USA Engineering and MACE Member) jointly established the MACE/Raburn Engineering Scholarship. Each year, two $1500 scholarships are awarded to the most qualified students from a pool of applicants.
